Chuck Bass Style

Chuck Bass, the fictional character on Gossip Girl, offers more style inspiration then just his signature scarf. Indeed, from his often wild and flamboyant ways we can take away a few pointers on how to improve our daily dress.

1) Cut of of the suit - Modern, slim, and always on the short side, the cut of a Chuck Bass suit offers a refreshing change to the sea of over sized, too long suits we see on a daily basis. Great sleeve length is also displayed on a regular basis. If you are a slim guy your silhouette should be progressively moving toward this cut.

2) Shoes - Brown leather Italian shoes, boat shoes, and never seen in sneakers. Nothing more needs to be said here.

3) Pocket Square - Chuck bass is often seen displaying a prominent pocket square. This accessory has been making a comeback in recent years. I am all for it, in all environments. Just remember not to match it to your tie.

4) Don't be scared of color - lots of yellows, greens, pinks, and reds. Not only for pocket squares but for socks, sweaters, scarves and even pants. Most of us are far too reserved in our use of color. Experiment, and you too will stand out in the sea of black, blue, and grey men's clothing.

5) Confidence - Finally and most importantly having confidence and feeling comfortable in your clothes is key to looking good. Your posture, presence, speech and most importantly your mind all play a key role in pulling off a Chuck Bass inspired look.

Just remember, when in doubt keep it on the subdued side.

I must agree with everything said here. I think the Bass style is how every man should dress. The pieces that he has are essential base items for any wardrobe and then are built upon to pull off looks similar to that pictured above. Thanks for this post.

My pleasure, indeed as some people have said, people have never looked as ugly as they do today. I think this especially applies to men. Hopefully, more people will draw inspiration from such examples.

Ahhh Chuck's bowtie on the second episode of season 2. So hard to pull off, but so good when done well! If only I were brave enough..

I hope I'm not the only one who noticed the "never seen in sneakers" rule right underneath the picture of Chuck Bass... in sneakers?

Actually "div", in the picture above, Chuck's wearing boat loafers... black patent leather boat loafers but nonetheless. However, I do disagree with the statement that he never wears sneakers, in fact if you watch the behind the scenes footage on season 1's DVD, the wardrobe and costume designer says that Chuck is often seen paring formal outfits with high-fashion sneakers. In the first episode of season 1, at the Kiss On The Lips party, Chuck is wearing a black tuxedo with white hi-top sneakers.

This man knows how to wear I've heard that some other actors have wanted to get his style but that's difficult because he has his own style.
